Short-term Supervision for School-age Youth over 12 Years (LSS)

License to provide short-term supervision for school-age youth over 12 years under the Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS). The service shall offer relaxing and active leisure in a safe environment with good adult role models, promote social community, and provide physical and mental stimulation.

Short-term supervision is offered when the guardian temporarily needs relief or when the youth needs support. The service is provided before and after school hours, during holiday days, study days, and longer breaks. The license is issued by the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO).

Requirements

  • Legal basis: Section 9(7) of the Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS)
  • License: Must be obtained from the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO)
  • Target group: School-age youth over 12 years with functional impairments under LSS
  • Service content: Relaxing and active leisure, social community, physical and mental stimulation, safe environment with good adult role models
  • Time: Before and after school hours, during holiday days, study days, and longer breaks

Application Procedure

  • Application: Submitted to the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO)
  • Processing: IVO reviews the application and issues the license
  • Flexibility: The service must be flexible as the need for supervision can vary considerably
