Transport Subsidy

Transport subsidy (transportbidrag) is a state aid that compensates businesses in Sweden's four northernmost counties (Västernorrland, Jämtland, Västerbotten, and Norrbotten) for higher transport costs caused by long distances to markets. The subsidy is administered by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket).

Eligible companies can apply for compensation covering a percentage of their freight costs for goods transported from these regions. Applications are submitted through Tillväxtverket's digital system Min Ansökan, and the subsidy is paid out after the transport period. The subsidy rate varies by municipality, with higher compensation for businesses located further from major markets.
