Animal Transport, Vehicle Inspection
To transport live animals as part of commercial activity, the vehicle must be inspected by the County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen) and approved by the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket). Basic provisions are found in EU regulations, the Animal Welfare Act (Djurskyddslagen), the Animal Welfare Ordinance (Djurskyddsförordningen), and regulations issued by the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
You must have a certificate of competence (kompetensbevis) to transport domestic animals such as cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, or horses in commercial activities. A transporter authorization (transportörtillstånd) is required to transport vertebrate animals commercially, and you apply for this from the Swedish Board of Agriculture. If you charge for transporting others' animals, you also need a commercial transport license (yrkestrafiktillstånd) from the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen).
