Vehicle Rental
Those who wish to operate professional rental of cars and all-terrain vehicles without a driver must have a permit from the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen). There must be a person responsible for the rental operation who has professional knowledge of vehicle rental.
A permit holder is obliged to notify the Transport Agency of the vehicles to be used in the operation and when changing the responsible person or other persons whose suitability has been assessed for the permit. The Transport Agency grants permits and supervises vehicle rental operations.
Requirements
- Responsible person: There must be a person responsible for the rental operation.
- Professional knowledge: The responsible person must have professional knowledge of vehicle rental, demonstrated by certificate.
- Suitability: The permit holder and responsible personnel must be suitable to conduct the operation.
- Vehicle notification: The permit holder must notify the Transport Agency of vehicles used in the operation.
Application Procedure
- Application: The application is submitted to the Transport Agency, either via e-service or using a form.
- Attachments for natural persons: Certificate showing professional knowledge of vehicle rental.
- Attachments for legal persons: Shareholder list (for limited companies) and certificate of professional knowledge for the person responsible for the operation.
- Fee: A fee is charged for the application. Processing begins when the fee is paid.
