Registration/Deregistration of Vehicles in Commercial Traffic

Companies holding transport licenses for freight, bus, or taxi services must register every vehicle used in their operations with the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen). A vehicle may not be used in commercial traffic until it has been registered. When a vehicle is no longer used in the business, it must be deregistered.

Registration and deregistration are done through Transportstyrelsen's e-service. This is an ongoing obligation for the duration of the transport license, and the vehicle fleet must be kept up to date at all times. Failure to register vehicles can result in penalties and may affect the transport license.

Requirements

  • Transport license: The company must hold a valid transport license for freight, bus, or taxi services.
  • Vehicle information: Details about the vehicle's registration number and technical specifications.
  • Registration before use: The vehicle must be registered before being used in commercial traffic.

Procedure

  • Registration: Use the Swedish Transport Agency's e-service to register vehicles for use in commercial traffic.
  • Deregistration: When the vehicle is no longer used in operations, deregister it via the same e-service.
  • Updates: Keep the register updated continuously when changes occur in the vehicle fleet.
