User of Chemical Products

As a professional end user of chemical products, you are responsible for ensuring that your use is permitted under applicable regulations, including the EU REACH regulation. An end user is someone who stores and uses chemical products, pesticides, or goods in professional activities without reselling them.

Common examples include car repair shops, cleaning companies, construction firms, hairdressers, and farmers. You must follow the safety data sheets provided by your supplier and ensure proper storage and handling. If you purchase products from suppliers outside the EU/EEA, you are also considered an importer and must meet additional registration and documentation requirements.

  • Permitted use: The use of chemical products must be permitted under applicable rules.
  • Safe handling: Products must be stored and handled safely according to safety data sheets.
  • Protective equipment: Required protective equipment must be used during handling.
  • Importer responsibility: When purchasing from outside the EU/EEA, importer responsibilities also apply.

Procedure

  • Information: Obtain safety data sheets and product information from suppliers.
  • Risk assessment: Conduct risk assessment of chemical handling in the business.
  • Procedures: Establish procedures for safe storage and handling.
