Security Company
A security company (bevakningsföretag) must be authorized by the County Administrative Board (länsstyrelsen) to operate. A security company is a business that professionally guards properties, facilities, certain operations, public events, certain property during transport, or an individual person.
To be authorized, the security operation must be expected to be conducted in a competent and judicious manner and in accordance with good practice within the industry. All personnel, including those who are not security guards (väktare), must be approved for employment. Those to be approved must be law-abiding, civically reliable, and otherwise suitable.
Requirements for Authorization
- Expertise: The operation must be conducted in a competent and judicious manner.
- Good practice: The operation must be conducted in accordance with good practice within the industry.
- Suitable orientation: The operation must not have an orientation that is inappropriate from a public perspective.
- Approved personnel: All personnel must be approved by the County Administrative Board. Those to be approved must be law-abiding, civically reliable, and otherwise suitable.
Application Procedure
- Authorization application: The application is submitted to the County Administrative Board in the county where the company's management is located.
- Personnel approval: Applications for approval of personnel are made by the security company and sent to the County Administrative Board in the county where the person will primarily serve.
- Fee: Both authorization and approval of personnel are subject to a fee.
- Six regional County Boards: Norrbotten, Örebro, Stockholm, Östergötland, Västra Götaland, and Skåne handle authorizations and supervision.
