Electricity Connection Request
The electricity connection request is an application to the grid operator for installing an electricity connection to a residential building, commercial building, or other location. Under the Elektriciteitswet 1998, everyone is entitled to an electricity connection under certain conditions.
The grid operator in your region is responsible for installing and managing the connection. You submit this request directly to the grid operator, not to the municipality. The costs depend on the distance to the electricity grid and the capacity of the connection. Note that the Elektriciteitswet 1998 is expected to be replaced by the Energiewet from January 2026, which will consolidate gas and electricity regulation into a single framework.
Requirements
- Suitable building or location: The location must be suitable for habitation, business operations, or another permitted function.
- Accessibility: The electricity grid must be reasonably accessible for connection.
- Capacity requirement: You must indicate what capacity (in amperes or kW) you need for your connection.
- Ownership or permission: You must be the owner of the property or have written permission from the owner.
- Building drawings: In some cases, you must provide building drawings or a site plan.
