Certified Fire Safety Expert
A certified fire safety expert (certifierad sakkunnig) performs inspections and verification that a building project meets fire safety requirements under the Planning and Building Act. The expert is engaged when the control plan (kontrollplan) requires independent verification of fire protection measures.
To become certified, you need relevant education in fire protection engineering and professional experience in building fire safety. Certification is issued by accredited certification bodies and must be renewed periodically. For individuals with education from another EEA country, Boverket must first validate the professional qualifications before a certification body can assess the remaining conditions for certification.
Requirements
- Swedish education and qualifications: Contact a certification body if you have Swedish qualifications and education. The current certification body is available on Boverket's website.
- Foreign education (EEA): Foreign education and professional experience from another EEA country are assessed and validated by Boverket, which issues a decision on recognition of professional qualifications.
- Language control: Boverket has the option to conduct language checks.
Certification Procedure
- Step 1 (foreign qualifications): Submit application to Boverket for assessment and validation if you have qualifications or education from another EEA country.
- Step 2: After receiving Boverket's decision on recognition of professional qualifications, you can contact an appropriate certification body.
- Certification body: The certification body assesses other conditions for certification.
