Fire Safety Inspection

Fire safety inspection (brandskyddskontroll) is a regulated activity performed by qualified chimney sweep technicians. To be authorized to carry out fire safety inspections in Sweden, you need a degree as a chimney sweep technician and a formal appointment by the municipality where you will operate.

The inspection covers chimneys, flues, fireplaces, and other combustion installations to prevent fire hazards. Municipalities are responsible for ensuring that fire safety inspections are performed at required intervals in their area. Individuals with qualifications from other EU/EEA countries or Switzerland can apply for recognition of their professional qualifications from Myndigheten för civilt försvar (MCF).
