Escort Service (LSS)

Escort service under Section 9(3) of the Act (1993:387) concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS) is a service for persons with disabilities who need assistance getting to and from different places, participating in activities, or shopping. The activity requires a permit from the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO) before it may be started.

Escort service can be provided as regular or temporary assistance and is adapted to the person's needs and wishes. The permit is not geographically limited, meaning that the same permit applies to the legal entity regardless of which municipalities the activity is conducted in.

Requirements for Permit

  • Type of activity: Activity under Section 9(3) LSS (escort service).
  • Application: Written application to IVO before starting the activity.
  • Legal entity: The permit is issued to a legal entity, not individual service units.
  • Geographic scope: The permit is not geographically limited and applies in all municipalities.

Application Procedure

  • Application: Submitted to IVO via their website or by post.
  • Documentation: Description of the activity, organizational plan, quality assurance procedures.
  • Processing time: Varies depending on the complexity of the case.
  • Supervision: IVO supervises the activity after the permit is granted.
