Music Agreement with SAMI to Play Music
When you play music, radio, or TV publicly in your business, you must pay a fee for it. This is done by entering into a music agreement with SAMI (Swedish Artists' and Musicians' Interest Organization). SAMI represents artists and musicians who play and sing on a recording.
In addition to the music agreement with SAMI, you also need a music license from Stim (Swedish Performing Rights Society), which represents the music creators who have written the lyrics and music. Music fees must be paid to both organizations for you to be allowed to play music publicly in your business.
Requirements
- Public music performance: When music, radio, or TV is played publicly in the business, a music agreement is required.
- SAMI agreement: Agreement with SAMI to cover rights for performing artists and musicians.
- Stim license: Music license from Stim is also required to cover rights for music creators (composers and lyricists).
Procedure
- Sign agreement: You sign the agreement directly with SAMI. More information is available on SAMI's website.
- Stim license: You also need to obtain a music license from Stim.
- Fee: Music fees must be paid to both SAMI and Stim.
