Market Permit
A market permit (marktvergunning) grants the right to occupy a stall and sell goods at a municipal weekly market or other market. The permit is issued by the municipality and is based on the municipal market regulation.
Market permits can be granted for a fixed stall (annual permit) or for temporary stalls (day permit). Conditions relate to the type of goods that may be sold, the location, the layout of the stall, and compliance with hygiene and safety regulations. Additional conditions and rules may apply for vending activities outside the market.
Requirements
- Chamber of Commerce registration: The applicant must be registered with the Chamber of Commerce as a self-employed entrepreneur.
- Type of goods: The range must comply with the requirements of the market regulation and may not include prohibited or restricted items.
- Hygiene and safety: For food, registration with the NVWA and compliance with hygiene requirements apply.
- Payment of market fees: Comply with the payment of market fees due according to municipal rates.
Procedure
- Submit application: Submit an application for a market permit to the municipality, specifying the type of goods and desired stall location.
- Assessment: The municipality assesses the application based on the Model Market Regulation, Article 2, and local criteria such as availability of stalls.
- Allocation: Upon approval, a fixed or temporary stall is allocated and the applicant receives a market permit.
- Obligations: The permit holder must comply with market rules, hygiene regulations, and pay market fees on time.
