Commercial Waste Notification

If your business collects, transports, trades, or brokers commercial waste, you must register on the VIHB list (Vervoerders, Inzamelaars, Handelaars en Bemiddelaars) with NIWO before starting operations. This registration is required under the Environmental Management Act (Wet milieubeheer) and applies to all companies active in the waste chain.

You apply online through the NIWO Ondernemersloket using eHerkenning. A certificate of conduct (VOG) is required for all applicants. If you trade in or broker waste, you also need a professional competence certificate from CBR. Operating without registration can lead to fines and enforcement action by the environment inspectorate.
