Veterinary Export Certificate
A veterinary export certificate is an official document required for the export of live animals, animal products, and certain animal feeds to countries outside the European Union. The certificate confirms that the products meet the veterinary and health requirements of the destination country.
The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) issues veterinary export certificates after inspection of the goods to be exported. The certificate is mandatory to comply with international trade agreements and to prevent the spread of animal diseases.
Requirements
- Export destination: The destination country determines which requirements apply to the export certificate.
- Products: The products to be exported must meet the veterinary and health requirements of the destination country.
- Inspection: The NVWA conducts an inspection to verify that the products meet the requirements.
- Registration: The exporting company must be registered with the NVWA.
Procedure
- Submit application: Submit an application to the NVWA via the Mijn NVWA portal at least 3 working days before export.
- Documentation: Provide all required documents, such as invoices, veterinary certificates, and lab results.
- Schedule inspection: The NVWA schedules an inspection of the goods to be exported.
- Receive certificate: After approval, you will receive the veterinary export certificate allowing you to export.
