Environmental Permit
The environmental permit (omgevingsvergunning) is the permit you need when you want to build or renovate. This permit is based on the Environment Act (Omgevingswet) and replaces various old permits such as building permits, environmental permits and tree felling permits.
The environmental permit is issued by municipalities, provinces or the national government, depending on the type of activity and location. For some small construction activities, an object permit or notification may suffice, but for larger projects an environmental permit is required.
Requirements
- Activity: Building, renovating, demolishing, tree felling or environmental activities
- Scale: For larger projects not covered by notification or object permit
- Plans: Building drawings and project description
- Assessment: The project is assessed against the zoning plan and other regulations
Procedure
- Preparation: Determine whether you need an environmental permit or object permit
- Application: Submit the application to the municipality, province or national government via the Environment Counter (Omgevingsloket)
- Assessment: The application is assessed against the Environment Act (Omgevingswet) and zoning plan
- Decision: You will receive a decision within the statutory period (usually 8 weeks)
