Environmental Permit for Restricted Area Activity
If your business activity takes place in or near a restricted area (beperkingengebied), you need an environmental permit for restricted area activities. Restricted areas include zones around airports, waterways, railways, nature reserves, and cultural heritage sites where extra rules apply to protect those interests.
The permit is issued by the municipality, province, or national government, depending on the type of restricted area. You apply through the Omgevingsloket (Environmental Portal). The responsible authority evaluates whether your activity is compatible with the protection objectives for the area and may attach conditions to the permit.
