Asbestos Removal

Asbestos removal is a mandatory notification activity when you plan to remove asbestos-containing materials or demolish a building partially or completely. Asbestos is a hazardous substance that poses serious health risks if not handled correctly, so strict safety measures apply during removal. Only certified asbestos removal companies may carry out the work.

You must submit your notification through the Omgevingsloket at omgevingswet.overheid.nl before work begins. The notification must include details about the location, the type of asbestos, and the removal method. The municipality supervises asbestos removal and can impose fines for non-compliance. You can also use the Omgevingsloket to check whether additional permits are needed.
