Evacuation Safety Report

The operator must draw up an evacuation safety report for spaces where the functional capacity or mobility of residents is lower than normal. The report must be prepared before commencing operations in hospitals, retirement homes, care institutions, closed penal institutions, and service and supportive housings.

The report must record how preparedness for hazardous situations and evacuation arrangements take into account the use of the building, the functional capacity of persons, and other factors affecting evacuation safety. The report must be updated at least every three years or when operations change substantially.

  • Deficiencies: If evacuation safety is lacking, the operator must prepare a plan to remedy the deficiencies
  • Authority orders: The rescue authority may issue an order to ensure evacuation safety if safety matters are inadequate
